There’s something about a beautiful floral arrangement that seems to calm the nerves and make you participate in its beauty seamlessly. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful things about floral design is knowing that the beauty is indeed fleeting and should be enjoyed in the moment. Floral design takes bouquet making to another level and uses flora to beautifully encapsulate a feeling, experience, or thought. Two weeks ago during my soirée, my Bestie Anny created a beautiful floral design piece. With her background of floral design, I truly expected nothing less than the best from her. But what she bought was truly a shock and a surprise a the most delightful sense ever. The twists and turns of the vines, and the feeling of love that emanated from this floral design piece truly threw me for a loop. It was then that I began to ponder how floral design can be truly and deeply healing for the human psyche. Maybe it’s not just vines, flowers, and petals strung together. Maybe it’s a spiritual journey into the beauty that exists all around us.
Lately I’ve been making bouquets and giving them to those around me that I love. This has led me into a whimsical for a each day to find the flower that fits my mood and intention for my bouquet of the day. As I delve deeper into this hobby, I find that not only does it relax my mind but calms my spirit. The things that God has put on this earth for us to enjoy truly makes me giggle sometimes because it truly is beautiful and wonderful and all of the great things that you can think of. As our world becomes more tech driven, I find myself retreating to gardens, fields, and the wilderness to find flora and herbs that truly speak to my spirit during these times.
