My *Minimal* Spring Essentials Pt. 1🌺

Whether you’re tackling retrograde or post tax season, the past two weeks have been an array of emotions. The moon in Scorpio on Tuesday shed a light on our collective wounds, prompting us to rebirth and lay out in exhaust when necessary. The emotional lull of Scorpio’s dark influence can never be ignored. Yesterday, everyone I came into contact with mentioned how exhausted they’ve been in some area of their life. Scorpio does indeed go deep. Hmm, coincidence or is there a collective need for a hard reset? Well being bombarded with horrible news happening all over the world at every corner doesn’t help…then what does?

How do we continually set ourselves up to be the makers of our fate, the physician of our psyches, all while living in a mad, mad world? Such a complex series of questions, yet my answer is quite simple: self-care.

In the mix of these strong inner emotions, I feel that some tidbits of pleasure and loving care are needed, Scorpio’s reign as well. If you’ve been following this website for sometime you know I am always one to advocate for self-care and taking care of the self. But yet it seems that now (more than ever) it is needed even more! In light of the upcoming Taurus new Moon on May 8 that is all about that lush #selfcare life I have gathered my favorite care things (that aren’t heavily focused on consumerism). What follows is a compiled list of remedies/essentials that have made my life on this Earth a little bit lighter, and bit more easier to breathe in. Speaking of which, whenever I lead a workshop or class, one of the first things I do is ask everyone to take deep breaths. It’s amazing how many of our daily breaths do not fill our lungs all the way and remain shallow. So, let’s start there shall we?

Deep Breathing

This one’s easy, deeply inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. To the count of 5. The best thing about this self-care tool is that it’s free (well dependent on where you are, have you seen infl*tion?)

Air Purifier

Getting a quality air purifier was one of those things that just elevated my life. No more nighttime allergies, no more stuffy noses at 3 am, and no more stickiness and seeing the dust in the air. Air purifiers have made their way onto my list as being one of those things that just makes sense. There’s nothing like simulating breezy ocean air (minus the saline) using a man made machine. This air purifier checks off all of my boxes in more ways than one and it’s one of the most cost effective options.

Vitamin D3

Sometimes the sun just isn’t enough and I know some of us don’t wear our sunscreen like we are supposed to👀. Incorporating vitamin D3 into my everyday made my mood better, made setbacks more tolerable, and helped support my body through crucial life changes. Even though Spring promises more sun, I highly recommend incorporating a dietary supplement of this crucial vitamin.

Financial Planning

This one skews a bit in the self-care category but honestly caring after and looking after your finances is a way to care for yourself. Once I got serious about my financial management and being comfortable with looking at any bank account regularly, I developed a beautiful relationship with money. I recommend opting for digital receipts at checkout to save space and be more effective in looking at past purchases. I filed tax forms other than a W-2 this year and that process was highly expedited because of the personal money management system I created for myself. I highly recommend finding an organized way to see what is coming in and going out each month in order to build rapport and trust with yourself.

Let’s not be like this meme :). We effectively manage our finances while having an abundance mindset over here.

Rose Water Mist(s)

There’s few things that are like rose water when it comes to its usage in my routine. I spray this on in the morning, at night, during the day, before yoga, and other times I feel like it. Not only is rose water nourishing for your skin, it also provides a balancing, refreshing feel. If I’m feeling more luxurious than normal, my favorite one to *splurge* on is Hydrosol’s Golden Hour Hydrosol. Steam distilled neroli and rose water? Sign me up!

Conscious Lip Balm

What are you putting on your lips? Besides that lovely smile? One thing I make sure to always keep on hand is a lip balm that moisturizes my lips effectively and also has ingredients that I feel good about. This leaves me feeling confident, empowered, and about my business. It also shows my lips that I care about them. My favorite lip balm from Soothing Touch is simply the best. You’ll never need another lip balm again, thank me later.

Journal

I would be remiss if I didn’t end this with one of the most important parts of my self-care arsenal. Also this is a website…that I write on, seems quite fitting! Writing in a journal is essential for me, and this journal is perfect for all your musing needs, plus it has a section where you can fill-in the date – just perfect. Journaling allows you to connect with yourself in a deeper way that shows you who you truly are.

One of my favorite places to journal is near water.

Well there it is, some minimal but highly effective tools to elevate your everyday, stay tuned for part 2! Until we meet again, as always, may your head and heart speak with one voice ;).
