From the plains of Alabama to the evergreen Oregon shore

I have journeyed in search of more

I welcome a new adventure, a fresh chance 

A land of forests, mountains, and rivers that dance 

I know the love from my roots will last 

Protected by my future and guided by lessons of the past 

From the heat and humidity of the South 

To the cool and crisp air that now hits my mouth 

From silent, starry nights in late July 

To pigmented sunrises that light up the sky

From clear skies to raindrops hitting the ground 

I’ve found myself in a new place

With all new sounds 

So many things I have grown to love 

Such as the beaches of Oregon’s sand 

The fields of lavender I touch with my hands 

And the Pacific coastline, with its rugged cliffs 

Each day brings new miracles as nature displays its gifts 

Though I dearly miss my family, friends, and home 

I find glee in the path on which I now roam

With friendly people and their accepting ways 

I have found this new area as a place to embrace 

I think of this as a place to grow, a place to give me what I need

Hello Oregon! My home for now where I will more than succeed

Although this is the spreading of my wings for a new start 

I will always proudly be an Alabama southern belle at heart
